Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VX-152 + tezacaftor + ivacaftor is an investigational triple combination therapy for cystic fibrosis (CF) under development by Vertex Pharmaceuticals. The regimen consists of two next-generation CFTR correctors, VX-152 and tezacaftor (VX-661), which help misfolded CFTR protein reach the cell surface, and a CFTR potentiator, ivacaftor, which increases the channel opening probability of CFTR at the cell surface. This combination is being studied for people with at least one F508del mutation in the CFTR gene, the most common mutation causing CF, with the aim to improve chloride ion transport and reduce disease symptoms. The combination is administered orally and is designed to improve CFTR function beyond that achievable with existing dual therapies.
