Overview

**VX-787 + oseltamivir** is an investigational combination therapy for influenza A infection. VX-787, also known as pimodivir or JNJ-63623872, is a first-in-class, oral small molecule inhibitor targeting the PB2 subunit of the influenza A virus RNA polymerase, directly blocking viral replication. Oseltamivir is a neuraminidase inhibitor, preventing the release of newly formed viral particles from infected cells. The combination leverages two distinct mechanisms of antiviral action: inhibition of viral gene transcription (VX-787/pimodivir) and prevention of viral particle release (oseltamivir). Clinical studies have evaluated this combination for improved efficacy and reduced resistance, showing no clinically meaningful pharmacokinetic interaction and a good safety profile[7][10].
