water + soap is a wound irrigation treatment protocol investigated by Aida Najafian at the Shariati Hospital in Iran for the management of surgical wound dehiscence. The protocol involves the topical application of a mixture of normal saline and Firooz baby soap to cleanse superficial wounds following obstetric or gynecological surgeries, such as cesarean sections, laparotomies, or episiotomies. The treatment relies on the mechanical action of irrigation and the emulsifying properties of the soap surfactants to remove debris, necrotic tissue, and reduce bacterial load in the wound bed. A pilot clinical trial compared this soap-and-water approach to standard irrigation with povidone-iodine and normal saline, finding comparable efficacy in wound healing outcomes without significant differences in clinical results.
