Overview

Wharton's jelly allograft is a regenerative biologic therapy developed by R3 Stem Cell for the treatment of chronic low back pain. Derived from the umbilical cord, Wharton's jelly is a gelatinous tissue rich in mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), growth factors, cytokines, exosomes, and hyaluronic acid. The therapy is designed to be injected into the lumbar region to provide structural support, cushioning, and lubrication to damaged spinal tissues while potentially facilitating a regenerative environment to reduce pain and improve function. R3 Stem Cell is currently evaluating the safety and feasibility of a 10cc injection of this allograft in a Phase 1 pilot study (NCT06361485) for participants with chronic lumbar pain. The product is positioned as an FDA 361-compliant tissue product for homologous use.
