Wharton's Jelly allograft is a biologic therapy derived from umbilical cord tissue, currently being developed by R3 Medical Research for the treatment of symptomatic knee osteoarthritis. This investigational product consists of processed Wharton's Jelly tissue, which is naturally rich in regenerative components such as growth factors, cytokines, hyaluronic acid, and extracellular vesicles. It is intended to be administered as a single intra-articular injection into the knee joint to provide pain relief and functional improvements by modulating the inflammatory environment and potentially promoting tissue repair. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 pilot dose-escalation study (NCT06608134) to assess its safety and feasibility across low, medium, and high dosing regimens.
