wIPV + bOPV is a sequential vaccination regimen utilized by Beijing Minhai Biotechnology for the prevention of poliomyelitis. This specific '2+1' schedule involves the administration of two initial doses of Whole-virion Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (wIPV) followed by a third dose of Bivalent Oral Poliovirus Vaccine (bOPV). The wIPV component typically contains inactivated Salk strains of poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3, while the bOPV component contains live-attenuated Sabin strains of types 1 and 3. This regimen is designed to provide comprehensive immunity against all three poliovirus serotypes while minimizing the risk of vaccine-associated paralytic poliomyelitis (VAPP) by using inactivated doses first. In clinical trials, this regimen often serves as a positive control for evaluating new Sabin-strain inactivated vaccines (sIPV).
