Overview

WJB001 + paclitaxel is a combination therapy consisting of WJB001, a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and paclitaxel, a taxane-based microtubule stabilizer. WJB001, developed by Wujiang Bio-pharm, is a biosimilar of bevacizumab that acts as an angiogenesis inhibitor by binding to VEGF and preventing its interaction with VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2, thereby inhibiting new blood vessel formation in tumors. Paclitaxel interferes with the normal function of microtubule breakdown during cell division, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. This combination is primarily investigated for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), where the anti-angiogenic effects of WJB001 are intended to complement the cytotoxic effects of paclitaxel.
