Drug intelligence / Profile preview
WTX-607 (formerly WTX-A) is an orally bioavailable, brain-penetrant small molecule inhibitor of alpha-synuclein oligomer generation, originally developed by Wren Therapeutics (now WaveBreak) in collaboration with Eisai. WTX-607 is designed to target the key molecular mechanisms responsible for the generation of toxic alpha-synuclein oligomers, specifically inhibiting both primary (lipid-induced) nucleation and secondary nucleation processes. By preventing the formation of these toxic oligomeric intermediates, WTX-607 aims to halt the progression of neurodegeneration in synucleinopathies, including Parkinson's disease, Lewy body dementia, and multiple system atrophy.
