WTX212A is an engineered red blood cell (RBC) therapy developed by Westlake Therapeutics for the treatment of advanced solid tumors. Utilizing the company's proprietary REDX platform, WTX212A consists of RBCs engineered to carry and deliver Interleukin-12 (IL-12), a potent cytokine known to stimulate T-cell and natural killer (NK) cell-mediated anti-tumor immunity. By using RBCs as a delivery vehicle, the therapy aims to achieve sustained, localized delivery of IL-12 within the tumor microenvironment, thereby enhancing therapeutic efficacy while mitigating the severe systemic toxicities associated with traditional IL-12 administration. WTX212A is currently being investigated in Phase 1 clinical trials, including investigator-initiated studies at Zhejiang University, to evaluate its safety and preliminary efficacy in patients with unresectable or metastatic solid tumors.
