**Wuda granule** is an oral, hospital-prepared traditional Chinese herbal medicine previously called **Xiangbin prescription/Xiangbin Formula**. It is a five-herb mixture containing areca seed, ginseng root, Lindera aggregata root, peach kernel, and Amomum fruit. It is being investigated to accelerate recovery of gastrointestinal motility after abdominal surgery, including postoperative ileus and postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction. Clinical and preclinical studies associate the preparation with increased gastrointestinal migrating motor complex activity, increased circulating motilin and ghrelin, cholinergic-muscarinic signaling involving intramuscular interstitial cells of Cajal, and anti-inflammatory effects; these are system-level findings rather than evidence of a single defined molecular target.
