Overview

This combination therapy involves the topical application of Xiangpi Shengji Ointment (XPSJO) in conjunction with a heat-clearing and dampness-drying extract derived from *Coptis chinensis* and *Phellodendron amurense*. Specifically studied for its efficacy in accelerating postoperative wound healing following anal fistula surgery, the treatment works by pharmacologically inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway. This inhibition suppresses the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including TNF and IL-17, while simultaneously promoting the polarization of macrophages toward the pro-healing M2 phenotype. Additionally, the combination stimulates angiogenesis and tissue remodeling by activating the HIF-1α/VEGF axis, facilitating faster recovery and improved wound closure.
