Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiao'er Biantong (also known as Xiao'er Tongbian) is a traditional Chinese patent medicine formulated as granules, composed of seven herbal ingredients: Houpo (*Magnolia officinalis* bark), LaiFuZi (*Raphanus sativus* seed), XingRen (*Armeniaca sibirica* seed), LuHui (*Aloe vera*), JueMingZi (*Cassia obtusifolia* seed), ZhiQiao (*Citrus aurantium* fruit), and BaiZhu (*Atractylodes macrocephala* rhizome). It was originally developed by Jiangsu Shenqu Pharmaceutical and is currently developed and manufactured by Jumpcan Pharmaceutical. Xiao'er Biantong is indicated for the treatment of functional constipation in children, particularly those diagnosed with food accumulation syndrome according to traditional Chinese medicine principles. The granules work by strengthening the spleen and stomach, promoting qi movement, relieving stagnation, and moistening the intestines to facilitate bowel movements. In clinical trials, Xiao'er Biantong demonstrated superior efficacy compared to placebo in increasing the frequency of spontaneous bowel movements and was well tolerated in pediatric patients. It was approved in China in August 2026 under the name Xiao'er Tongbian Granules.
