Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiao'er Fengreqing Mixture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by Dongzhimen Hospital of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. It is specifically formulated for pediatric use to treat acute upper respiratory tract infections (AURTI) characterized by wind-heat symptoms, such as fever, sore throat, and cough. The mixture contains a complex blend of herbal ingredients, including *Lonicera japonica* (honeysuckle), *Forsythia suspensa*, and *Isatis tinctoria*, which are traditionally used for their ability to clear heat and detoxify the body. Pharmacologically, the mixture is thought to exert anti-inflammatory and antiviral activities through the synergistic action of various phytochemicals, such as flavonoids and iridoids, found within its constituent herbs. It is an approved hospital-made pharmaceutical in China, widely utilized in clinical practice at its developing institution.
