Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiao-feng-san (XFS) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine (TCM) formula primarily used for the treatment of dermatological conditions characterized by pruritus and inflammation, such as chronic urticaria, eczema, and atopic dermatitis. It is a complex botanical mixture that exerts anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidative effects. The formula is hypothesized to work by modulating the immune system, specifically by restoring the balance between Th1 and Th2 immune responses. In clinical research conducted by Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, XFS has been evaluated in Phase III trials as an adjuvant therapy to be used in combination with antihistamines like levocetirizine to provide superior symptom relief in patients with chronic urticaria.
