Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiao-Feng-San + Shian-Fang-Hwa-Ming-Yiin is a combination of two traditional Chinese herbal formulas being investigated for the treatment of uremic pruritus in hemodialysis patients. Xiao-Feng-San (XFS) is a classic 13-herb preparation traditionally used for skin conditions like dermatitis due to its immunomodulatory properties. Shian-Fang-Hwa-Ming-Yiin (SFHMY), also known as Xian-Fang-Huo-Ming-Yin, is a 12-herb formula typically employed for inflammatory conditions such as carbuncles and acne, providing anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial effects. This combination therapy aims to alleviate the persistent itching associated with end-stage renal disease by modulating systemic immune responses and reducing inflammation, addressing a common and bothersome symptom for which current standard therapies often have limited efficacy.
