Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiaozhong Zhitong plaster + traditional chinese medicine powder is a combination therapy developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). The treatment involves the topical application of the Xiaozhong Zhitong plaster, a traditional formulation known for its ability to promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, and reduce swelling, in conjunction with a specific TCM powder. This combination is designed to target the chronic neuropathic pain that persists after a herpes zoster (shingles) infection. The therapy works by clearing heat, detoxifying the affected area, and unblocking the collaterals (meridians) to alleviate the intense burning or stabbing pain characteristic of PHN. It is typically used as an external application directly on the site of the neuralgia.
