Overview

XXB750 (also known by the Quotient Sciences code QSC303166) is an investigational, first-in-class, orally bioavailable small molecule agonist of the natriuretic peptide receptor-A (NPR-A), also known as guanylate cyclase A (GC-A). Developed by Novartis, XXB750 is designed to mimic the physiological actions of endogenous natriuretic peptides like atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP). By binding to and activating NPR-A, XXB750 stimulates the production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which mediates vasodilation, natriuresis, and diuresis, and exerts anti-fibrotic and anti-hypertrophic effects on the cardiovascular system. This mechanism of action is particularly relevant for the treatment of resistant hypertension and heart failure, where the natriuretic peptide system is often insufficient. XXB750 is currently in Phase II clinical development for hypertension, representing a potential new oral therapeutic class for cardiovascular diseases.
