Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YanXinShi + trimetazidine is a fixed-dose combination of two agents used in the management of cardiovascular diseases, particularly coronary heart disease (CHD) and heart failure. - **YanXinShi (Yangxinshi)** is a traditional Chinese medicine tablet composed of thirteen herbal ingredients, including Astragalus membranaceus, Codonopsis pilosula, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Pueraria, epimedium, hawthorn, Rehmannia glutinosa, angelica, Coptis chinensis, corydalis, Ganoderma lucidum, ginseng and licorice. It is widely used to improve exercise capacity and quality of life in patients with CHD and heart failure by reinforcing Qi and activating blood according to TCM theory. Mechanistically it has been shown to enhance myocardial mitochondrial function (increasing ATP production), promote mitochondrial biogenesis and aerobic metabolism in preclinical models[3]. - **Trimetazidine** is a small molecule antianginal agent that acts as a metabolic modulator; it improves myocardial glucose utilization through inhibition of fatty acid metabolism. This results in improved cardiac efficiency under ischemic conditions. The combination aims to synergistically improve cardiac energy metabolism—YanXinShi via multi-targeted herbal effects on mitochondria/oxidative stress/vascular function per TCM principles[3], and trimetazidine via direct metabolic modulation at the cellular level.
