Overview

YCJ-01 is a full-spectrum cannabis extract developed by Oils4cure for the treatment of refractory epilepsy in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). Unlike purified cannabidiol (CBD) isolates, YCJ-01 contains a comprehensive profile of cannabinoids, including CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), along with terpenes and flavonoids, which are hypothesized to work synergistically through the entourage effect. The drug's mechanism of action in epilepsy is primarily attributed to the modulation of neuronal excitability via multiple targets, most notably the antagonism of G protein-coupled receptor 55 (GPR55) and the desensitization of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) channels. It is currently being evaluated in the Phase 2 SPECTRUM clinical trial to assess its efficacy in reducing seizure frequency in TSC patients whose seizures are difficult to control with standard anti-seizure medications.
