Overview
Yi'nao Jieyu Granules (YNJYD) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation primarily used for the treatment of depression and post-stroke depression. The granule form is standardized according to the guidelines in the 2010 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopeia. Its main ingredients are Acanthopanax senticosus (20 g) and Schisandra chinensis (10 g), both well-known TCM herbs with neuroprotective and adaptogenic properties. Preclinical studies indicate that YNJYD exerts therapeutic effects by improving microcirculation in brain regions such as the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, regulating glutamatergic neurotransmission, modulating membrane phospholipid metabolism, repairing microstructural damage, and alleviating depressive-like behaviors in animal models. The mechanism appears to involve modulation of neurotransmitter systems including gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptor activity[1][2][9]. Clinical development includes evaluation for efficacy and safety in patients with kidney deficiency-liver stagnation type depression[6].
