Drug intelligence / Profile preview
yuebi decoction + fangji huangqi decoction is a combination of two classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulas used to treat refractory edema and various forms of kidney disease. Yuebi decoction (Yuè Bì Tāng) is traditionally used for wind-water edema with acute onset, while Fangji huangqi decoction (Fáng Jǐ Huáng Qí Tāng) is indicated for wind-damp edema associated with Qi deficiency. The combination aims to synergistically promote diuresis, reduce proteinuria, and modulate the immune response. Pharmacological studies suggest that the active components, such as ephedrine from Ephedra and tetrandrine from Stephania, act on adrenergic receptors and calcium channels, respectively, while also regulating the expression of aquaporin-2 in the renal collecting ducts to manage fluid balance.
