Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhengqi Liujun Cancer Suppression Decoction combined with Zhengqi Powder is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) combination therapy developed by Southwest Medical University and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Affiliated to Southwest Medical University for the treatment of colorectal cancer. The therapy is based on TCM principles of strengthening vital energy ("Zhengqi"), tonifying the spleen, and dispelling "dampness toxicity." The formulation consists of two primary components: the "Zhengqi Liujun Cancer Suppression Decoction"—a modification of the classic Liujunzi (Six Gentlemen) Decoction (containing *Panax ginseng*, *Atractylodes macrocephala*, *Poria cocos*, and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis*) with the addition of "Zhenqi" herbs such as *Ligustrum lucidum* and *Astragalus membranaceus*—and a modified "Zhengqi Powder" (Huo Xiang Zheng Qi San). Research suggests that this combination exerts anti-tumor effects by modulating the gut microbiome and immune response, promoting cancer cell apoptosis and autophagy, and inhibiting inflammatory pathways. Key molecular mechanisms involve the regulation of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR and NF-κB signaling pathways, as well as the modulation of cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF.
