Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhixiangpi + baizhi medicated thread is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapeutic intervention developed by the No.1 Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It consists of a cotton thread impregnated with extracts from *Zhixiangpi* (the bark of *Wikstroemia chamaedaphne*) and *Baizhi* (*Angelica dahurica*). This formulation is specifically utilized in the treatment of granulomatous lobular mastitis (GLM), a chronic inflammatory condition of the breast. The medicated thread therapy (known as *yaoxian* therapy) works by being inserted into fistulous tracts or abscess cavities to facilitate the drainage of pus, promote the removal of necrotic tissue, and stimulate the growth of healthy granulation tissue. The active herbal components provide synergistic anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antimicrobial effects, targeting the localized inflammatory environment to promote wound healing in chronic mastitis cases.
