Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of four nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) used in the treatment of HIV-1 infection. While these drugs have been studied in various dual combinations, the use of all four together is not a standard therapeutic approach. Some combinations, particularly stavudine and didanosine, have been associated with enhanced toxicity including increased risk of fatal and nonfatal cases of lactic acidosis, pancreatitis, peripheral neuropathy, and hepatotoxicity.
