ZIKV E + 102CpG is an experimental Zika virus vaccine candidate that combines recombinant Zika virus envelope protein (E protein, ZIKV E) with the immunostimulatory CpG oligonucleotide "102CpG"[5][6]. The ZIKV E protein, the main surface glycoprotein of Zika virus, is responsible for host-cell entry and is a major target for neutralizing antibody responses[5][11]. CpG oligonucleotides act as adjuvants that activate the innate immune system via Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9), enhancing the adaptive immune response to the E protein[6]. This combination aims to generate strong and specific Zika-neutralizing antibodies and robust cellular immunity. As of October 2025, ZIKV E + 102CpG is an investigational subunit vaccine in preclinical research, primarily indicated for prophylactic immunization against Zika virus infection.
