Overview
This is a **combination vaccine** comprising the Zilbrix (a DTPw-HBV vaccine, containing diphtheria, tetanus, whole-cell pertussis, and hepatitis B antigens) and a **Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) conjugate vaccine**. Zilbrix is manufactured using a new DTPw antigen source and includes reduced quantities of polyribosylribitol phosphate (PRP, the Hib component polysaccharide). The Hib conjugate component uses PRP conjugated to a protein carrier (typically tetanus toxoid), which improves immunogenicity. The vaccine is designed for active immunization of infants and young children for the prevention of diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, and invasive disease caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b, facilitating high coverage by reducing the number of injections in immunization schedules[1].
