It was primarily evaluated in large-scale randomized controlled trials in India to determine its efficacy in reducing the incidence and severity of diarrhea and pneumonia, as well as improving growth and reducing anemia in children aged 12 to 36 months. The intervention addresses common micronutrient deficiencies that compromise the immune system and physical development in pediatric populations in low-resource settings.
