Overview

Zinc + pentoxifylline is a combination therapy consisting of zinc, an essential trace element with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and pentoxifylline, a methylxanthine derivative that improves microcirculation by increasing erythrocyte flexibility and reducing blood viscosity. This combination has been investigated for its potential to improve outcomes in several conditions. In clinical studies, the co-administration of zinc and pentoxifylline has shown efficacy in improving sperm parameters (concentration, motility), reducing inflammatory markers, and decreasing DNA fragmentation in men with idiopathic infertility. Additionally, topical formulations combining these agents have demonstrated enhanced wound healing through increased angiogenesis, keratinocyte migration, wound contraction, and reduced inflammation compared to either agent alone. The combination has also been explored as part of multi-drug regimens for severe alcohol-associated hepatitis (AH), targeting inflammation and tissue injury[1][2][5][7].
