Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zuoguiwan + Zuoguiyin is a combination of two classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulas originating from the 17th-century text *Jing Yue Quan Shu*. Traditionally used to nourish Yin and tonify the kidneys, this combination is being investigated by Hubei Provincial Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital for the third-level prevention and treatment of advanced primary liver cancer in patients ineligible for surgical resection. The regimen aims to promote liver regeneration and repair by influencing stem cells and their microenvironment. Network pharmacology studies suggest the formulas may act through targets such as FOS, PTGS2, and MYC, involving the MAPK and PI3K-Akt signaling pathways. In clinical trials, it is often evaluated alongside Western comprehensive therapy to assess survival, quality of life, and liver function.
