Target intelligence / Profile preview

5'-Ecto-nucleotidase (CD73)

Target
CD73
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Ectoenzyme
01

Overview

5'-Ecto-nucleotidase, commonly known as CD73, is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell surface enzyme encoded by the NT5E gene. It catalyzes the dephosphorylation of extracellular adenosine monophosphate (AMP) to adenosine, playing a crucial role in purine salvage pathways and immunomodulation. CD73 is overexpressed in several solid tumors, contributing to an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment.
