Overview

5'-Nucleotidase domain-containing protein 4 (NT5DC4) is a putative hydrolase enzyme encoded by the NT5DC4 gene. It is a member of the cytosolic 5′-nucleotidase II enzyme family, which catalyzes the intracellular hydrolysis of 5'-nucleotides. NT5DC4 contains the characteristic 5'-nucleotidase domain, suggesting a similar catalytic activity, though its specific substrate specificity, biological roles, and tissue distribution remain uncharacterized[1][2][7]. Associations with rare diseases have been noted via genetic locus overlap but there are no demonstrated direct functional disease links or therapeutic relevance at this time. Other family members (such as NT5C2) play a role in purine metabolism, but little is known about NT5DC4's physiological or pathological significance[2].
