7SL RNA 566 pseudogene, cytoplasmic (RN7SL566P) is a human genomic element classified as a processed pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA sequence, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[5][1]. While functional 7SL RNA is crucial for protein translocation across the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, the vast majority of 7SL-like sequences in the human genome, including RN7SL566P, are non-functional remnants generated by retrotransposition[5]. These pseudogenes typically do not produce functional RNA or protein; however, some pseudogenes in general can occasionally act in gene regulation through non-coding RNA mechanisms, such as serving as decoys for microRNAs or sources of small interfering RNAs, but there is no evidence for such a role specific to RN7SL566P[2][4]. This entity is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar druggable protein, and there are no drugs or mechanisms of action associated with it.
