7SL RNA pseudogene 726, cytoplasmic (RN7SL726P)

Target
RN7SL726P
Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene, noncoding RNA)
01

Overview

RN7SL726P is a human pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which is the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex essential for protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum. Unlike the functional 7SL RNA, the RN7SL726P pseudogene is a non-functional, truncated genomic sequence resulting from the reverse flow of genetic information from 7SL RNA back into DNA. The majority of 7SL-like sequences in human DNA are pseudogenes and are generally not transcribed or do not have a known function in normal physiology. However, the broader class of pseudogenes may sometimes have regulatory roles or affect gene expression under certain contexts[1][6][7][2][4]. There is no evidence that RN7SL726P serves as a therapeutic target, drug receptor, or biomarker. The presence of "pseudogene" in its name and the lack of functional protein expression indicate that this is not a canonical molecular target but rather a genomic relic with no established direct role in human health or disease.
