ABL proto-oncogene 1, non-receptor tyrosine kinase (ABL1)

Target
ABL1
Molecular classification
Non-receptor tyrosine kinase, Enzyme, Proto-oncogene
01

Overview

ABL1 is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase involved in various cellular processes, including cell division, adhesion, differentiation, migration, DNA repair, and stress response. It is a proto-oncogene that, when mutated or aberrantly activated (e.g., through the BCR-ABL fusion in CML), can drive cancer development. Its activity is regulated by autoinhibitory interactions, and it localizes to both the cytoplasm and nucleus, participating in DNA repair and apoptosis. ABL1 phosphorylates numerous substrates, regulates actin cytoskeleton dynamics, and plays roles in lymphocyte signaling, synapse formation, and bacterial adhesion.
