ABL proto-oncogene 2, non-receptor tyrosine kinase (ABL2)

Target
ABL2
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Protein Kinase, Non-receptor tyrosine kinase
01

Overview

ABL2, also known as ARG (Abelson-related gene), is a non-receptor tyrosine-protein kinase encoded by the *ABL2* gene. It belongs to the ABL family of tyrosine kinases. The protein plays critical roles in cell morphogenesis, motility, growth, and survival. Many of its biological functions overlap with those of ABL1. Constitutive activation or fusion events involving *ABL* family genes are implicated in leukemias. Dasatinib is a clinically used inhibitor targeting both BCR–ABL1 fusion proteins as well as wild-type ARG/ABL kinases.
