Acid phosphatase 7, tartrate resistant (ACP7) is a putative member of the purple acid phosphatase (PAP) family, a class of binuclear metalloenzymes found across plants, fungi, and animals.[3][5][7] It is predicted to catalyze the hydrolysis of phosphomonoesters under acidic conditions, with activity dependent on metal ions such as iron or zinc.[1][3][4][5] Its human gene is located on chromosome 19 and expresses a protein similar in sequence to other PAPs, for example, acid phosphatase 5 (ACP5/TRAP), which is involved in bone metabolism, immune function, and iron transport in mammals.[2][3][5] While the precise biological and clinical significance of ACP7 in humans is not well characterized, it shares functional domains with better-known family members that participate in dephosphorylation processes, possible regulation of bone and mineral metabolism, and metal ion homeostasis.[2][3][7] ACP7 differs from ACP5/TRAP, which is already an established clinical and research marker, and currently, there is limited direct evidence relating ACP7 to specific diseases, druggability, or biomarker utility in clinical practice.[3][5][7]
