Unlike its parent gene (which encodes a secreted metalloproteinase involved in extracellular matrix remodeling and associated with vascular disease and arthritis), ADAMTS7P1 does not code for a functional protein. Pseudogenes like ADAMTS7P1 are typically non-functional genomic sequences derived from ancestral protein-coding genes and are not considered therapeutic targets. There is no evidence that ADAMTS7P1 has any active role in disease processes, drug interactions, or biomarker development.
