ADAM7, ADAMDEC1 and ADAM28 antisense RNA 1 (ADAM7-AS1)

Target
ADAM7-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA
01

Overview

ADAM7-AS1 is a long non-coding antisense RNA transcribed from the genomic region overlapping the protein-coding genes ADAM7, ADAMDEC1, and ADAM28. Like other antisense lncRNAs, it is thought to regulate expression of its sense counterparts via base pairing with mRNAs, modulation of chromatin states, or transcriptional interference. While lncRNA antisense transcripts are implicated in diverse biological processes and diseases, there is currently no specific disease or therapeutic relevance directly attributed to ADAM7-AS1 in public domain sources. Its principal function is as a regulator of gene expression, consistent with the general role of antisense lncRNAs. ADAM7-AS1 is not a classical drug target, but a regulatory antisense lncRNA gene, whose primary function is thought to be the modulation of gene expression. No specific aliases, disease associations, drugs, biomarkers, or therapeutic interventions have been described for this target as of now.
