Overview

Adenosine receptors are a family of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that mediate the physiological actions of adenosine. There are four known subtypes: A1, A2A, A2B, and A3. Each subtype has distinct tissue distribution, signaling mechanisms, and pharmacological profiles. They are involved in various biological processes, including neuromodulation, cardiovascular regulation, immune modulation, and bone homeostasis. Due to their widespread physiological roles, adenosine receptors are considered promising therapeutic targets for neurological disorders, cardiovascular diseases, asthma/inflammatory diseases, and cancer therapy adjunct.
