Overview

Amine oxidase copper containing 4, pseudogene (AOC4P) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from a pseudogene locus related to the amine oxidase copper containing (AOC) family[2][4]. Unlike functional amine oxidases, AOC4P does **not** encode an active enzyme or receptor protein; instead, it acts as a regulatory lncRNA implicated in tumor biology[2][4]. Experimental data demonstrate that AOC4P is downregulated in various cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma and epithelial ovarian cancer, and functions as a tumor suppressor primarily by modulating the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), reducing cancer cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis in vitro and in vivo[2][4]. Loss of AOC4P expression correlates with poor prognosis. No evidence supports its role as a classic druggable target (enzyme, receptor, transporter, etc.), and it is best characterized as a regulatory RNA molecule affecting gene expression and cellular phenotype rather than a direct protein target for therapy.
