Ankyrin repeat domain 20 family member A5, pseudogene (ANKRD20A5P)

Target
ANKRD20A5P
Molecular classification

Overview

Ankyrin repeat domain 20 family member A5, pseudogene (ANKRD20A5P), is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 19q13.33 that is related to the ankyrin repeat domain-containing family of proteins. While its name suggests a similarity to the ankyrin repeat-containing protein family, ANKRD20A5P does not encode a functional protein. There are no known direct biological functions, disease associations, or pharmacological roles for the isolated pseudogene. However, in rare cases, ANKRD20A5P can participate as a partner in fusion genes (for example, RPL18-ANKRD20A5P), but its role in these events has not been characterized as therapeutically relevant or as having a clear disease mechanism. No drugs, biomarkers, or clinical safety concerns are associated with this gene or its product.
