Overview

Annexin A10 (ANXA10) is a member of the annexin family of calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding proteins, characterized by its unique expression in the gastric mucosa and its role in cell cycle regulation (UniProt P50995, Human Protein Atlas). It is a highly specific biomarker for the serrated pathway of colorectal cancer and is frequently overexpressed in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, where it promotes tumor cell proliferation and migration (PMID: 25344771, PMID: 28637501). Conversely, its expression is often lost in hepatocellular carcinoma, indicating a complex, context-specific role in oncogenesis (PMID: 24333715). As a therapeutic target, ANXA10 mRNA is being explored for knockdown via RNA interference (siRNA) to treat overexpressing malignancies (PMID: 30217950). Potential safety concerns for targeting ANXA10 include off-target effects of RNA-based therapies and possible adverse impacts on the normal gastric epithelium where ANXA10 is physiologically abundant.
