Overview
Apolipoprotein(a) mRNA is the messenger RNA transcript that encodes apolipoprotein(a), a key protein component of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]. Lp(a) is a complex plasma lipoprotein particle consisting of an LDL-like core covalently linked to apolipoprotein(a). Targeting this mRNA with antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) or small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) represents a therapeutic strategy to reduce Lp(a) levels and associated cardiovascular risk.
