Apoptosis-inducing, TAF9-like domain 1, pseudogene is a human pseudogene locus. Pseudogenes are non-functional segments of DNA that arise from formerly active genes through evolutionary processes such as mutation, frameshift, or stop codon introduction, rendering them unable to code for a functional protein[2]. This pseudogene is related in sequence to the TAF9B (TATA-Box Binding Protein Associated Factor 9b) gene, an essential component of the transcription factor IID (TFIID) complex involved in the initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II[3][5]. The pseudogene itself does not participate in transcription, apoptosis, or any other known cellular process, nor has it been implicated in disease or drug interaction.
