ARHGEF9 intronic transcript 1 (non-protein coding) (ARHGEF9-IT1)

Target
ARHGEF9-IT1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Non-protein-coding RNA
01

Overview

ARHGEF9 intronic transcript 1 is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the intronic region of the ARHGEF9 gene. Unlike the ARHGEF9 protein-coding transcript, which encodes collybistin (a Rho GTPase exchange factor involved in neurological development and synaptic function[3][7]), ARHGEF9-IT1 does not code for a protein[1][5]. Long non-coding RNAs such as ARHGEF9-IT1 are known to influence cellular functions by interacting with DNA, RNA, and proteins, thereby impacting gene regulation, chromatin organization, and nuclear structure[4][6]. However, specific biological roles, disease associations, and drug interactions for ARHGEF9-IT1 are currently unclear. It is not considered a canonical therapeutic target (e.g. receptor, enzyme, transporter, ion channel, or transcription factor), although future research may clarify its functional relevance and potential roles in human disease.
