The ARL2-SNX15 readthrough is a naturally occurring read-through transcript formed between the neighboring ARL2 and SNX15 genes on chromosome 11. This transcript is a candidate for nonsense-mediated mRNA decay and is therefore unlikely to produce a protein product or have independent biological function. Both ARL2 (a small GTPase involved in cytoskeletal dynamics) and SNX15 (involved in endosomal trafficking) are individually protein-coding genes with established roles in cellular processes, but the ARL2-SNX15 readthrough has not been implicated in disease mechanisms or as a drug target. The locus is annotated in gene databases to note the presence of readthrough transcription but is currently not linked to any protein product or clinical application.
