Overview

ATE1 opposite strand, pseudogene (ATE1OSP, ENST00000437593) is a predicted noncoding transcript located opposite to the protein-coding ATE1 gene. Pseudogenes are nonfunctional DNA segments resembling real genes but generally do not produce functional proteins due to disabling mutations such as frameshifts and premature stop codons[5]. However, some pseudogenes have regulatory roles, such as acting as antisense RNAs that can modulate expression of their parental genes[1][3][7]. ATE1OSP is annotated as possibly acting upstream of negative regulation of transcription, but there is no evidence that it encodes a protein or acts as a direct receptor, enzyme, or drug target[6]. It is not a relevant structure for therapeutic intervention.
