Overview

ATP binding cassette subfamily A member 15, pseudogene (ABCA15P), also referred to as FLJ41766, is a pseudogene of the ABC transporter family situated in the human genome[1][3]. ABC transporters are membrane proteins involved in moving various substrates across membranes via ATP hydrolysis, but pseudogenes like ABCA15P do not encode functional proteins. Instead, such pseudogenes may have arisen from ancestral ABC transporter genes through duplication and subsequent loss of coding potential. There is no evidence that ABCA15P is transcribed or has any direct regulatory, functional, or pathological relevance in humans[1][3]. Accordingly, it is not considered a druggable or therapeutic target. Key points: - ABCA15P is not a gene that produces a functional protein. - It is not an enzyme, receptor, transporter, or other classical drug target. - Its presence mainly reflects the evolutionary history of the ABC family rather than an active role in human biology or disease.
