ATP5MFP2 (also known as ATP synthase, H+ transporting, mitochondrial Fo complex, subunit F2, pseudogene) is classified as a pseudogene and does not encode a functional protein[3]. It is related by sequence to subunits of the mitochondrial Fo ATP synthase, a critical enzyme complex responsible for ATP production in mitochondria[1][2]. However, because ATP5MFP2 is a pseudogene, it is not translated into a functional enzyme or protein, and it does not play a therapeutic or physiological role in mitochondrial ATP synthesis. Consequently, it is not considered a target for therapeutic intervention.
