Overview

ATPase, H+ transporting, lysosomal 13kDa, V1 subunit G1 pseudogene 5 (ATP6V1G1P5) is a processed human pseudogene related to the ATP6V1G1 gene, which encodes a subunit of the vacuolar H+-ATPase involved in organelle acidification; as a pseudogene, ATP6V1G1P5 does not produce a functional protein subunit and currently has no known direct biological or clinical role. Pseudogenes can, in some cases, have regulatory functions in gene expression by acting as competing endogenous RNAs (miRNA decoys) for their parental genes, but there is no evidence for such activity specific to ATP6V1G1P5[1][3]. It should not be confused with the functional ATP6V1G1 subunit or other pseudogenes in the ATP synthase/V-ATPase gene families[5][4].

Biological functions

Potential microRNA decoy activity (general pseudogene function seen in other well-characterized pseudogenes)
03

Disease associations

Other (No direct evidence for ATP6V1G1P5 involvement; some pseudogenes affect disease by regulating cognate genes, but this has not been specifically reported for ATP6V1G1P5)
